1989 Ferrari F40 “Lexan Sliding Windows”

- Sold, Italian

1989 Ferrari F40 n° 80715 is one of just 95 ‘Lexan Sliding Windows’ F40s, and was produced in the desirable non-cat non-adjust variation.

Ferrari SpA noted ‘VS’ or Vetri Scorrevoli (translated literally as Lexan Windows) in its production archive to signify the few F40s originally built with Lexan Sliding Windows to the original 1987 launch specification. We hold the registry for all the cars originally built with these LM-type doors.

New in April 1989 to Italy for an Italian gentleman, and registered on Cuneo plates CN 734743, this example moved to the USA in early 2014. This F40 has only ever lived in Italy and the USA.

This example was fully restored by a highly-regarded and factory-authorized Ferrari North American restorer renowned for its authentic Ferrari restorations. Over a 3 year period at a cost approaching $500,000, everything was covered to produce an essentially better-than-new F40. The legendary paint ‘weave’ was was replicated, and everything is correct-for period. Bodywork, interior, chassis, suspension, wheels, engine, gearbox & transmission were all part of the restoration.

This has to be in our experienced estimation the very best restored F40 extant, all the more impressive that it happens to be an LSW example. Aside from some tuning & test miles, there are zero miles since the restoration. The car is Classiche Certified, includes original owner’s manual and warranty book in Schedoni leather pouch, records, F40 cover, complete tool kit and tire inflator, and both sets of keys. We proudly present a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
